Yes, his art is gone. Do you guys really need to keep hammering on that point? People quit... it's happened before, and it'll likely happen again.
Personally, considering how he's mentioned a few negative feelings in the past, I'm more concerned about how the guy himself is doing. If he's going or has gone through something nasty in real life, then his art being wiped is the last thing on my mind.
In short, way to guarantee that he doesn't come back.
